Thiriyaya Ancient Buddhist Temple 35 km from the resort towards to Pullmudai

Thiriyaya is the Buddhist temple known as Girihadu Seya is considered as the first Dagaba in Sri Lanka. Girihadu Seya was built by "Thapassue Balluka" Merchants‚ who offered first alms giving to Lord Buddha. Girihadu Seya is located on top of a mountain‚ where the "Thapassue Balluka" merchants kept the relic hair of Buddha on a temporary basis on their visit to Sri Lanka.

 

 

 

 

Kokilai [kokku Vila] Bird watching lagoon tour

The Lagoon is fed by a number of small rivers. The shallow waters of the lagoon attracts a wide variety of water birds including pelican, cormorant, herons, egrets, wild duck, stork, waders and pink flamingoes. The Lagoon water is brackish. Koneswaram legendary Hindu temple and the Dutch fort Fredrick    

Koneswaram temple is a Hindu religious pilgrimage It is built on top of Swami Rock. The famous Lovers Leap is located in the temple. Fort Fredrick is a fort built by Portuguese in 1624. This fort was captured by Dutch in 1639. Later this was captured by British in 1795.

Eagles' Golf links is located near Trincomalee Harbour and it is the fourth addition for Sri Lankan Golf Courses. “Eagles´ Golf Links” is owned and maintained by the Sri Lanka Air Force. The golf course is completed with spreading its blossoming green fairways in the distant corner of China Bay.
